Congratulations to MAA member Normand L. Charlette!

He was selected as the Artist of the Month at Aetna Headquarters,
151 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT.

The gallery, adjacent to Aetna's huge cafeteria, is managed by Artists in Real Time.
He became eligible by participating in "Open Studio" in Hartford.

There are 22 seascape photos being exhibited under the title of "A Shore Thing."
The exhibit runs through the month of July.

Normand wrote: "Parenthetically, this was challenging. I ended up adding 6 new photos to complement 16 I have already shown publicly. I wanted to work in some diversity to go along with my assortment of lighthouse photos."

South County Health, based in Wakefield, RI sponsors an annual photography contest for their calendar. A total of 29 photographs are selected which portray the essence of South County, Rhode Island. The calendar features two photos for each month, plus the cover and back. This year 100 photographers submitted over 500 entries. Norman's photo "The Dunes of Matunuck" (right) was selected as the cover photo for the 2017 calendar by the 5 judge panel!

The photograph "Swan" (right) was on display as part of the Group Show at The ArtSpace Gallery, 555 Asylum Street, Hartford throughout the month of November.

He exhibited photographs at Open Studio Hartford, November 12 & 13 at the Connecticut Historical Society venue at One Elizabeth Street, Hartford, Connecticut.

Norman also recently concluded having 3 photos displayed for the Autumn Arts Festival Group Show at the Spectrum Gallery, 61 Main Street, Centerbrook, Connecticut. Non-MAA member Joy Fortt (in red in the photo) is a loyal participant in Open Studio. On Wednesday, April 13th she brought in a lovely tea spread to show her appreciation for the Open Studio experience.

He has two photographs in national juried shows. The blue footed booby, "Happiness," is being exhibited at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, New Jersey. The baby sea lion, "Innocence Awoken," has been accepted into the Shirt Factory Gallery in Glens Falls, NY for their "Small Works" show.

"Storm Coming" won third place in the drawing category at the Art of Experience Show in Southbury, CT. The award winning painting will be at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury until
Mon, Nov. 9, 2015.

Pat also had her painting," Autumn Gold," juried into the New England Landscape Show at Lyme Art Association. David Dunlop was the juror. Her other painting, "Pumpkin Trio" was not juried into the show , but the organizers asked if they could hang it anyway. Congratulations, Pat!

She is participating in an art show featuring former and present art teachers and alumni of RHAM High School. The opening was Friday, Oct 2nd from 6 - 8 p.m. in the RHAM gallery, 85 Wall St, Hebron, CT.

Illustrator and artist Nate Hansen displayed his latest work, which included a collection of vibrant album art, posters of local bands, and skateboards (see photo).

Stephen Sottile, a professional printmaker with over 25 years of experience, showcased metal paint etchings and aquatints of various still-life subjects. Sottille’s unique exhibit also included an array of collographs, woodcuts, solar plates, gelatin prints, and monotypes.

Pastels by Patricia Trapp in the Stairwell Gallery at South Windsor Puplic Library Congratulations to MAA member Pat Trapp!

Her shoreline themed pastels are on exhibit in the Stairwell Gallery at the South Windsor Public Library.

The exhibit was to be on display until the end of August, but was extended with new photos through December 2015.

MAA member Sue Hollister taught a jewerly workshop this summer through Glastonbury Arts!

JUMP RING WEAVING - Chain Maille Jewelry is all the rage and it starts with weaving your first jump ring chain. Since sterling silver is so expensive, gold-colored copper wire will be used to make your jump ring chain. By the end of the workshop, students will have gained the skill to finish a bracelet or necklace at home. Half-day workshop wasThurs. July 16 2015, 9:30 am-12:30 pm. Instructor: Sue Hollister has taught jewelry at RHAM High School for 35 years.
