FRAMING GUIDELINES
Framing should enhance your artwork. Here are some guidelines for preparing your work for our shows. If you have any questions, contact an exhibit coordinator.

The hanging wire should be:
-
Placed 1/4 from top
-
Tight and straight across
-
Attached to frame
-
No loose glass.
-
Mats must be clean.
-
Glass must be clean.
-
No sawtooth hangers.
-
Hanging wire attached to frame with D-rings or screw eyes - no nails.
-
A painting on stretched canvas does not have to be framed if the sides of the canvas are nicely finished. No staples should be visible.

Why so picky about framing?
Most of our sites use a floating hanging system. The hooks are not stationary. So, a painting that is wired wrong won’t hang flat on the floating system. It will lean out from the wall at a 45 degree angle.
Money saving tips:
-
Check thrift shops and yard sales for frames to reuse/refurbish.
-
Buy screw eyes or D-rings at hardware store.
-
Paint in standard sizes so you can swap out paintings and reuse the same frame.
-
Buy inexpensive frames from craft stores – check the back to make sure you can attach screw eyes or D-rings.
