Traditional Asian Painting
with Hyeonsu Kim

When:  Saturday, September 21, 2024, 9 AM - 1 PM            

Where: Manchester Church of Christ, Fellowship Hall, 595 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester CT  

Cost: $75 for MAA members, $100 Non-members  (Limit of 12 students)

 

All levels. A good class for beginners and experienced painters alike. All supplies will be provided by Hyeonsu Kim.

 

In this workshop students will watch a video explaining Korean painting, followed by a demonstration by Hyeonsu. The participants will learn about the materials needed for Korean painting and the basics on how to hold the brush, different brush techniques, handling the paper, and grinding the ink on the inkstone. The class will have the opportunity to paint Korean art on traditional Korean paper (Hwasunji).​

Artist Bio for Hyeonsu Kim:

 

Hyeonsu Kim was trained in South Korea where, after earning a BA in childhood education, she graduated from Daegu Catholic University with a concentration and certificate in Traditional Asian Painting. While still living in South Korea she was the owner and teacher of a private art school for children ages 3 -15. Also, she was an exhibiting member of a prestigious Professional Artist Collective.
